|
One can buy tomatoes already at price 1.51 – 1.81 EUR/box of 6 kg.
However such tomatoes are soft,
really ripe,
for the immediate consumption.
Price of tomatoes of good quality,
firm and for the longer trade is 2.42 – 2.72 EUR/box of 6 kg.
Price of pale tomatoes,
intended for export reaches even 3.02 EUR/box of 6 kg.
Now there is rather a small interest in tomatoes.

|
This year purchase prices of aubergines in the area of Radom are exceptionally low.
Last years many producers are moved from the production of sweet peppers to the production of aubergines because of better production profitability.
However this year's season is one of the worst as regards profitability.
Purchase prices decreased to 0.30 -0.45 EUR/kg for aubergines of 1st class packed in cardboard boxes of 8 kg.
On the wholesale market in Sandomierz price of aubergines is 0.61 – 0.67...

|
Prices of domestic sweet peppers stayed at different levels depending on the region of Poland.
On Thursday,
August 21st in surroundings of Radom,
price of red sweet peppers was about 0.72 EUR/kg; price of green and white sweet peppers was about 0.66 EUR/kg.
In Małopolska region,
the second big region of sweet peppers production,
price of red sweet peppers was about 0.60 EUR/kg and price of green sweet peppers about 0.36 EUR/kg.

|
In Mazowsze region there is a lack of wholesale quantities of red onions.
The small supply causes price increase.
On Wednesday,
August 20th minimum wholesale price of red onion,
size 4 - 7,
was 0.36 EUR/kg.
On the wholesale market in Bronisze price fluctuated from 0.60 to 0.75 EUR/kg.

|
In the area of Grójec price of pears (variety Faworytka,
1st class,
in boxes of 20 kg) intended for export to the eastern countries is 0.66 – 0.75 EUR/kg.
The demand for pears is high,
but supplies are still too small.
In Ukraine (as a result of the flood) and on Belarus (as a result of spring frost) a demand for pears increased.
Exporters are preparing supplies to the East and an export to the Czech Republic and Slovakia also started.

19/08/2008| Heavy crop of strawberries of late-summer varieties
|
On wholesale markets there are large amounts of strawberries of late-summer varieties.
In Poznań wholesale prices of strawberries class extra,
in containers 2 kg are about 1.20 EUR/kg.
In Elbląg prices of strawberries are higher - about 1.80 EUR/kg.
The trade in strawberries of late-summer varieties has been developing dynamically for the last few years and apart from supplying the domestic market more and more these strawberries are intended for export.
